We had a great discussion on Martin Luther King Jr. lead by our Senior Kappas. Later we viewed Harriet together at the Sugarloaf Mills AMC which concluded a day of thought provoking and engaging topics.
December Community Service
December 24, 2019, our Kappa Leaguers attended a Christmas Eve worship service and helped pass out toys to 4 families with children in foster care.
January Business Meeting
On January 11, 2020 we had our second focus on Martin Luther King Jr. We played the full sermon “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop”. We played the sermon in 3 segments and our Senior Kappas facilitated discussion and answered questions. This meeting along with our December meeting provided our Kappa Leaguers with a greater appreciation of Dr. King’s sacrifice.
January Cultural Awareness
January 20, 2020, we showed out in force to support the Lawrenceville Martin Luther King Jr. parade. Our young men made a good impression. We had a record 73 Kappa Leaguers and 34 brothers participate!
February Cultural Awareness
On February 1, 2020, we attended the movie Just Mercy. It was a great movie based on a true story and showed our young men some positive messages. One that came out in the movie was having a passion for giving back to your community which aligns with our Kappa League program.
February Annual SE Province KL Conference - Youth Leadership Development
February 7, 2020 – February 9, 2020, we had 24 Kappa Leaguers attend the Southeastern Province Kappa League Conference in Athens Georgia on the campus of the University of Georgia. The workshops provided great information for our young men to use and arm them with tools for success! Special thanks to brothers Shun Pringle, Luther Payton, and Ray Brown for assisting with the event, safeguarding our young men, and taking advantage of mentoring opportunities. Well done!
350+ Kappa Leaguers in attendance from Georgia and South Carolina.
February 23, 2020, we had a great outing at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta to watch Hawks vs Mavericks. It didn’t look good for Hawks most of the game, but they got the win. Kappa League chapters from across metro Atlanta were in attendance for the game.
March, 14 2020, due to unprecedented times our meeting was canceled due to the COVID-19 virus and the need to social distance.
